Under Tennessee law, any person seeking employment with Sevier County Schools will be subject a background check through the Tennessee Applicant Processing Services Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.  Additionally, any applicant will have his/her name submitted to the Department of Children's Services, Department of Human Services, and the sex offender registry to determine if the applicant is eligible for hire.

Application Process for Support Staff

Support Staff positions include the following: School Secretary, Custodians, Food Service Workers, Maintenance, Business Office Personnel, and all Teacher's Assistants.

Step 1:  Applicants that wish to apply for employment for a support staff position must submit an application packet which includes the following:
  • Support Staff ApplicationMake sure to sign, date and fill out ALL application information completely.
  • Resume
  • Copies of transcripts or ParaPro Exam Results, these do not have to be official copies; only requires for education assistant positions

Step 2:  Submit Application

Employment Process

Once an applicant has been offered and accepted employment and all required paperwork has been submitted, Human Resources will contact the employee to schedule the payroll and benefits orientation.

New employees will receive an email with a welcome note and a confirmation of your scheduled appointment time to attend the new hire orientation. This email will include the following:
  • Instructions on completing your pre-employment physical
  • Instructions for completing your federal background check
  • List of items to bring with you to your orientation
  • Summary of benefits that will be offered  
Full-time employees will be selecting a health insurance plan, dental and vision plan, and offered supplemental life insurance options during this session. Please review the benefits information prior to your scheduled orientation. 

You will need to allow a minimum of 2 hours to complete the orientation.

Items to Bring with you to Orientation:
  • Drivers License
  • Social Security Card
  • Voided Check for Direct Deposit or a letter on bank letterhead stating routing and account number
  • Social Security Numbers, Date of Birth for Dependent and Beneficiaries
  • If seeking family insurance coverage, please bring birth certificates for children, marriage certificate and the most recent tax returns as proof of marriage
  • Teacher assistants should also bring educational diplomas and college transcripts (if applicable) and/or Paraprofessional test scores.Information concerning the ParaPro Exam can be found on the ETS website.
  • If an employee wishes to have experience considered for pay purposes, with a maximum of 5 years for in-kind work, documentation on letterhead from prior employers signed with contact phone numbers must be supplied.  No exceptions. The letter needs to include dates of employment, state status as full time or part time, and list job duties.
