Scholarship Information

  • College Application and Scholarship Deadlines:  

    New:  Sevier County Schools Federal Credit Union offers a scholarship of $500.00 per semester for four years to each of the four public Sevier County High Schools.  Interested seniors must complete the application found which includes an essay, print the application, and submit it along with a copy of your high school transcript to your guidance counselor no later than February 28th.  The applicant’s parent or guardian must be a current member of Sevier County Schools Federal Credit Union by September 1 of the prior year of application.   Please see the attached copy of scholarship application that is found on our website.  Deadline to apply is February 28.  Students must go to the link below and complete the application.  The completed application must be printed, given to guidance counselors, and returned to the credit union along with transcripts and test scores.

    The Ned McWherter Scholars Program is intended to encourage academically superior Tennessee high school graduates to attend college in Tennessee.  The award is $6,000 per academic year, $3,000 from the State of Tennessee and $3,000 from the college or university attended. Awards are made in equal installments each term throughout the academic year.  The award may be renewed three times for a total of four years. The recipient must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and attend full-time to remain eligible.  Students may apply at the following link:


    To be eligible, the applicant must:

    • be a resident of Tennessee, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and attend an eligible Tennessee college or university full time, and
    • have at least a 3.5 unweighted cumulative grade point average, and
    • have a minimum composite score of 29 on the ACT (or concordant equivalent score on the SAT).

    An applicant may receive extra credit for honors or advanced placement courses and leadership in extracurricular activities while in high school.

    New: The PB&J scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to a high school senior who plans to attend a 2 or 4year college next school year.  This annual scholarship is for students who experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, who still have the drive to succeed.  There is NO GPA requirement.  Students are encouraged to apply as this scholarship is meant to be inclusive.  Use the link below to apply.  The deadline is May 31, 2022.  A flyer with the QR code and link to the PB&J Scholarship is here: PB&J Scholarship Flyer

    New National Youth Safety Scholarship:  CareerSafe, Safety Education for America’s Future is excited to provide a scholarship opportunity for students.  Students are encouraged to create a written or video essay describing how the OSHA 10 training has made an impact in the way they recognize hazards and how it will be a benefit to their future.  See the link below for more information

    The Tennessee National Guard Association will award 3 $6,000 scholarships to children of Active Annual or Lifetime Members of the Tennessee National Guard Association.  Please see the attachments below for more information; applications are due by February 1st.

    The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans scholarship is now available to juniors! 
    Eligibility: high school junior, demonstrated critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income), and US citizen.

     The mathematics department at UT-Chattanooga invites students to apply for the 2022 Marjorie Watson Mathematics Scholarship.     Walter State: Planning to attend Walters State next Fall? There is a Walters State scholarship that is available to you! This scholarship will be money you can use on top of the TN Promise, meaning you could use this money for textbooks/class fees/etc. Link to Walters State Scholarship application:  *Scroll to the bottom and click the "Apply Now" button. You must have already been accepted into Walters State to apply **Also, Dual Enrollment students planning to attend Walters State in Fall 2022 - Remember you must reapply to Walters State as a freshman student (even though you have already been accepted as a dual enrollment student)


    The Coolidge Scholarship is an annually awarded, full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study. This one-of-a-kind scholarship may be used at  accredited college or university in the U.S.

    Criteria to apply: 

    • 2022 Coolidge Scholarship applicants must intend to enroll full-time at an accredited U.S. college or university as an undergraduate for the first time in fall 2023. Students in their junior year of high school are eligible to apply. 
    • 2022 Coolidge Scholarship applicants must be citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States of America by the 2022 scholarship deadline.
    • 2022 Coolidge Scholarship applicants cannot be the immediate family member of any current employee or
      trustee of the Coolidge Scholars Program or the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation.

     John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage: The  John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest is officially open! We’re now accepting submissions from high school students for the 2022 contest—and students can win up to $10,000 for participating!  See the link below for more information:

    The Tennessee Concrete Association is sponsoring their annual High School Essay Contest.  The contest is open to students ages 16-18 and the deadline to submit entries is Friday January 7th at  Cash prizes will be awarded, for more information see the attached application.
