  • New: Optimistic Enterprise Scholarship: A $2500-$5,000 scholarship will be awarded to one senior from Northview Academy who has an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher and has been accepted to a four year university, majoring in Nursing.  Applications available in the guidance office and on Google Classroom.  Students must submit their college acceptance letter with the application.  Deadline to complete the application is February 28th.  

    New Turner and Velma Sims Memorial Scholarship:  A $250 scholarship will be awarded to one senior will be awarded to one senior from Northview Academy who has an overall GPA of 2.75 or higher and has contributed to their community through service.  Students who apply should attach a current transcript and an activity sheet listing their community service hours. Applications available in the guidance office and Google Classroom.  Deadline to complete the application is February 28th.

    New: Interested in attending a free Creative Writing workshop at the University of Tennessee. The workshop will be held on February 29th. See the attached flyer on Google Classroom for more information.

    New: BLUE WEEKEND at ETSU: This is an immersion weekend experience for high school sophomores and juniors interested in pursuing a pre-health degree or program of study at ETSU. BLUE (Bucs Live University Experience) Weekend will introduce these students to the many health degrees and programs offered at ETSU while also providing them an opportunity to experience “life on campus.” Students will be paired with a mentor who is a current pre-health student. Students and mentors will stay in the residence halls and participate together in all the weekend activities. All meals and activities will be provided free!

    BLUE Weekend for the Health Sciences will take place March 27th-28th, 2020.

    To be eligible to participate, students should meet the following criteria:

    --Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

    --Minimum 20 ACT score

    --Interested in being pre-health (or undecided, but have a health focus)

    Students who are first generation college-bound and/or are from underrepresented student populations will be given first priority.  The deadline to apply is Friday, March 20th before 5:00 p.m.  Questions about this event, please contact Megan Roberts at robertsmm@etsu.edu.

    New: The ACT Prep class has extra ACT Practice books that you may pick-up/have to practice for your upcoming ACT tests! They include test-taking strategies, practice tests, explanations, and answers. (These are the books they use in ACT Prep class) If you would like one, please see Mrs. Helton in guidance, or Mr. Vineyard and Mrs. K. Smith upstairs!

    Senior girls: Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Pigeon Forge is hosting a prom dress giveaway! It will be March 7th at 10 am. See the flyer on Google Classroom for more information

     Kids Chance of Tennessee Scholarship information below: Check out the flyer on Google Classroom to see if you are eligible for this scholarship.  Students between the ages of 16-22 who met the criteria are eligible to apply.  

    Applications are currently being accepted for SMYL, Smoky Mountain Youth Leadership.  Interested freshmen and sophomores can pick up an application in the guidance office.  

    Furman University Scholars: Any current junior that is interested in attending Furman University, and has a 3.5 GPA plus a 29 or higher ACT score, and significant extracurricular activities/community service please see your counselor so that you can be nominated for the Furman Scholar before March 1st. 

    UT College of Business: We are pleased to announce that the University of Tennessee’s Haslam College of Business is hosting three business summer programs on the Knoxville campus in Summer 2020.  

    Business Education for Talented Students (BETS) Program (June 8-20, 2020) is a twelve-day residential program designed to introduce underrepresented high school juniors, first generation college students, or students who receive free or reduced-cost lunch to all aspects of the business world and encourage them to seek careers in business.

    Accounting & information Management (AIM) Academy (July 25-31, 2020) is a six-day residential program designed to introduce underrepresented high school sophomores to the field of Accounting & Information Management and encourage them to seek careers in Accounting.

    Women Empowered Through Business (WEB) Institute (July 25-31, 2020) is a six-day residential program designed to introduce female high school sophomores to the fields of Business and Technology.

    The National Guard Association of Tennessee is awarding (7) $3,000.00 scholarships to seniors who have a parent who is a member of NGATN. Application and information available on Google Classrooms

    The Tennessee Concrete Association is sponsoring the annual High School Essay Contest.  students ages 16-18 can enter. The first place prize is $250, second place is $100, and third place is $50.  The application and rules are available on Google Classroom
