Important for Seniors Planning on Attending Walter State in the fall: Make sure you have signed up for an orientation (this is how you pick your classes/schedule). You will need to sign up directly online at ws.edu under the Admissions tab. The earlier you attend orientation, the better your chances will be to have the schedule you would like.

New: The ACT for the juniors has been rescheduled for April 21, 2020
New: The Smoky Mountain Historical Society is offering a scholarship opportunity to seniors and juniors. First, Second and Third place winner will receive an award $1000, $500, and $250, respectively. Competitors are required to submit a historical research paper about a person, place, or historical event that took place within the general boundaries of the Smoky Mountains region. Entry papers must be submitted by April 2, 2020. Winners will be selected in late April 2020. Application is available on Google Classrooms.

Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors will be taking the Pre-ACT (grades 9 and 10) and the ACT (grade 11 only) on March 17th. There are several incentives for students in all grades if they make a certain score, so make sure you are preparing for the upcoming test. Practice tests available on ACT Academy . Kids U summer camps provide a wonderful opportunity for students (in grades 3-12, rising) to come to UT and explore their interests in fields ranging from art to chemistry, photography to technology, STEM to LEGOs, and much more. Business Education for Talented Students (BETS) Program (June 8-20, 2020) is a twelve-day residential program designed to introduce underrepresented high school juniors, first generation college students, or students who receive free or reduced-cost lunch to all aspects of the business world and encourage them to seek careers in business.
Accounting & information Management (AIM) Academy (July 25-31, 2020) is a six-day residential program designed to introduce underrepresented high school sophomores to the field of Accounting & Information Management and encourage them to seek careers in Accounting.
Women Empowered Through Business (WEB) Institute (July 25-31, 2020) is a six-day residential program designed to introduce female high school sophomores to the fields of Business and Technology.
