New: Seniors new job opportunity
KaToms in Kodak has openings in their Distribution Center and are looking for young, ambitious people to join their team. They are willing to work with students and offer flexible hours until they are out of school. The normal shift is 11:30am to 8:00pm and the pay is $12.50 per hour.
The positions they are hiring for are “packers”. An employee uses an order sheet and they just match up what a customer orders to the product brought to them by the “pickers” and they scan the items for inventory control and then pack them nicely in boxes to ship to the customer. They would love to invite anyone who might be interested to come to their facility for a tour to see the work area and observe how the employees do the job. If you are interested please email Julie Meyer at JMeyer@katom.com

New: Seniors, you should have received an email from TN Achieves on activating your Connect account and contacting your mentor. This is an important step for TN Promise, so make sure you are checking your emails and completing the steps. You are also required to complete a 40 minute webinar to replace the in person mandatory meeting. You need to make sure to watch the webinar before the deadline of May 31 to remain eligible for TN Promise. The links to the webinar and Connect are listed below:
TN Promise students must watch the 40-minute webinar by May 31, 2021 in order to maintain scholarship eligibility. Students can access the webinar here (https://tnachieves.org/mentors/tnachieves-connect/). It can viewed on a computer, tablet or mobile device. This webinar takes place of the in-person mandatory meeting typically hosted by tnAchieves in the spring.

For Seniors: See below for information on virtual community service opportunities for TN Promise
One of the TN Promise scholarship requirements is that students must volunteer at least 8 hours of community service prior to each term enrolled. In addition to volunteering to benefit your community, students can also volunteer in their field of interest to gain experience. This means that job shadowing may count toward your community service requirement! Click the link below or reference pages 22-23 in your Class of 2021 TN Promise student handbook to learn more about the TN Promise community service requirement, as well as to view guidelines and deadlines. As an additional resource, tnAchieves has recorded over 20 virtual webinars to help you earn TN Promise community service hours. The service webinars discuss a variety of topics, including insight to career paths, college success and general life skills. By watching the webinars, you will accumulate community service hours. Each video will account for one hour of community service, so feel free to watch multiple episodes. Duplicate viewings of the same webinar will not be counted as an hour of community service. For more information go to https://tnachieves.org/community-service/webinars/. To receive an hour of community service, simply log in with your personal information, view the webinar in its entirety, then click submit. You may only receive credit for viewing each webinar once.
