    11:30 a.m.

Dear Pigeon Forge Junior High School Parents,

I wanted to share with you about a security concern that we experienced at our building today.  At approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning, administrators were advised of a note written on a bathroom wall that referenced a bomb. We immediately informed our SRO and other Pigeon Forge Police Department officials and evacuated students and staff to a safe location while appropriate law enforcement personnel conducted a thorough search of the building.

No suspicious devices were discovered, and after the building was determined to be safe, students and staff were allowed to return at approximately 11:10 a.m.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we dealt with this issue.  Your child’s safety is among our top priorities, and we will be working with the PFPD to investigate.  Students who make threats of this nature are subject to both criminal charges as well as school discipline, and we plan to pursue the matter vigorously.  Law enforcement has indicated that they will maintain an increased presence at our building in the coming days for added peace of mind.  We are, as always, grateful for their assistance.

    Regards,

Danny Rucker, Principal Pigeon Forge Junior High School
