Principal Announced for the New Pigeon Forge Intermediate School

Wendy Patternson The Sevier County School System is pleased to announce that Wendy Patterson has been selected as the principal of the new Pigeon Forge Intermediate School which will open in the fall of 2020. For the past seven years, Ms. Patterson has served as principal of Pittman Center Elementary School. Under Patterson's leadership, Pittman Elementary was designated as a 2019 Reward School by the Tennessee Department of Education.

From 2009 until 2013, Ms. Patterson served as assistant principal at Catons Chapel Elementary. From 1994 until her appointment as assistant principal, Ms. Patterson was a teacher at Pigeon Forge Middle and Catons Chapel Elementary. Wendy Patterson holds a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Tennessee as well as an Education Specialist from Lincoln Memorial University. She is a graduate of Leadership Sevier as well as the Sevier County School System's Leadership Development Academy.

Dr. Jack Parton stated, "Wendy Patterson brings a depth of both teaching and administrative experience to her role as principal of a newly formed school. With outstanding communication skills, a commitment to academic excellence, and dedication to providing strong educational experiences for students, I have no doubt that she will serve Pigeon Forge well. Ms. Patterson will begin meeting with potential faculty and staff soon and will facilitate communications with the community as the school start up process develops. This is an exciting time for the Pigeon Forge Community and the Sevier County School System as we look forward to the opening of a new intermediate school."

Carrie Gumlick will serve as interim principal at Pittman Center Elementary for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. For the last five years, Carrie has served as a technology lead teacher/blended learning coach in the school system. From 2002 until the fall of 2014, she taught 6-8th grade language arts at Pittman Center Elementary. Carrie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, a Master of Science in Administration and Supervision from U.T. Martin, and an Education Specialist from Lincoln Memorial University. Dr. Jack Parton stated, "With Carrie's prior experience teaching at Pittman Center as well as strong instructional background, I feel that she will make a smooth transition into administration at Pittman Center. At the end of the school year, applications will be accepted for the principal position at Pittman Center."
