Certified Professional Employment Process

Certified Employees

Individuals interested in applying for a certified position with the Sevier County School System need to complete the following application process.

  • Individuals interested in applying for a certified position with the Sevier County School System should submit a completed application packet that includes the following documentation:

    • Certified Application:  Applicants should fill out ALL information requested on the document, and make sure to sign and date the application prior to submitting it to the Sevier County School System.
    • Resume:  Applicants should include a current resume with the application packet.
    • Copy of Current Teaching License(s):  If the license is pending, applicants should include an explanation.
    • Copy of College Transcripts:  These do NOT have to be official copies. Please do not have official copies mailed to the school system separate from your application packet.

    Mail or Deliver the Application in Person to:

    Note:  Electronic applications are not being accepted at this time.

  • Please allow time for your packet to be delivered to the Central Office before you request the initial screening. Once your application packet has been delivered to Human Resources, you may request an initial screening of your packet by sending an email to hollysmith@sevier.org or by calling 865-453-4671. Please include your area of certification and position that you are applying for in the request. This initial screening process reviews the application packet to ensure all required paperwork has been submitted and accepted before you contact administrators listed on a posted position. 

  • After you receive the initial screening approval via email from Human Resources you are approved to contact administrators directly to request an interview when jobs are posted.     Note: Applications are kept on file one calendar year from the date they are received. If you wish to reapply or update your application, a new application must be filled out and submitted.

  • Once employment has been offered, accepted, and all required paperwork has been submitted, a representative from the Human Resources Department will contact the new employee to schedule the payroll and benefits orientation.

    New employees will receive an email with a welcome note and a confirmation of your scheduled appointment time to attend the new hire orientation. This email will include the following:

    • Instructions on completing your pre-employment physical
    • Instructions for completing your federal background check
    • List of items to bring with you to your orientation
    • Summary of benefits that will be offered

    You will need to allow a minimum of 2 hours to complete the orientation.

    • Drivers License
    • Social Security Card
    • Voided Check for Direct Deposit or a letter on bank letterhead stating routing and account number
    • Social Security Numbers, Date of Birth for Dependent and Beneficiaries
    • If seeking family insurance coverage, please bring birth certificates for children, marriage certificate and the most recent tax returns as proof of marriage
    • Official Experience Form (only required for experience not posted on the state department website).
    • Receipt for fingerprinting
    • Receipt from physical
