The auditorium at Northview Academy was filled with anticipation on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, as the Sevier County School System hosted its 31st annual countywide Spelling Bee. The event brought together 26 top spellers from schools across the district, spanning grades four through eight.

The young competitors demonstrated remarkable composure and impressive vocabulary knowledge through an intense series of rounds. The tension was palpable as student after student stepped up to the microphone, aiming for accuracy and a chance at the championship title.

After a grueling eight rounds of challenging words, a clear winner emerged. Sawyer Hill, a sixth grader representing Catons Chapel Elementary, claimed the prestigious title. Hill secured his championship victory by flawlessly spelling the winning word: "scandium."

The battle for the remaining two top spots was equally fierce as the competition continued for two more rounds. Showcasing exceptional skill and tenacity to ultimately claim the second-place honor was Tucker Christian, a seventh grader from Sevier County Junior HighCorinne Raymond, a fourth grader from Northview Intermediate, ultimately claimed third place in the competition.

The annual Spelling Bee not only highlights the exceptional spelling talents within Sevier County Schools but also encourages students to develop strong literacy skills, vocabulary, and public speaking confidence. The performance of all 26 participants was a testament to the hard work put in by the students, their parents, and their dedicated teachers across the county.

Congratulations to Sawyer Hill and all the participants for a successful and memorable 31st annual Sevier County Spelling Bee!
